Employment Law
Employment law deals with the “Law of the workplace” and governs the relationship between you the employee with your employer.
Such incidents as workplace injuries, harassment, abuse, bullying, minimum pay, maternity leave annual leave, working terms and conditions and redundancy are all regulated by various EU treaties, legislation (Workplace Relations Act 2015) and of course the particular contract entered into. |
Independent Contractors
Recent times have seen a rise in former employees becoming independent contractors doing the same work but under different conditions. Thus the need to establish if your contract is a “ Contract of service” (Employee contract) or a “Contract for Service” (an independent contractor’s agreement)
Agency, part time and temporary work arrangements are becoming a way of life for a lot of people, such working terms are governed by the EU directive on “Temporary, Agency work 2008/104/EU” which in Irish Law is covered by the “Protection of Employees ( Temporary Agency Work ) Act 2012”. |
Unfair Dismissals
The unfair dismissals Act 1977-2007 deals with employee’s rights should they become victim to an unfair dismissal. Not all issues are resolved by the court, unfair dismissals can be handled by the “Workplace Relations Commission” who are established to process unfair dismissal workplace issues
